What is a silver horse?
Silver is a dilution gene. Sterling is considered a silver bay, so without the silver he would be a straight bay. He would have a red body with a black mane and tail and black legs. The silver gene dilutes black hair, so that is what causes the blonde colouring in his mane and tail. His legs and other black points are also diluted to a more chocolate brown colour. He is homozygous for silver and black so every one of his foals will express silver.
What is his show record?
I believe that Sterling could have quite a successful show career in the cowhorse or reining disciplines. But that is not the main purpose of this horse. Sterling has been purposefully bred to be a user-friendly horse with style and flash. He has not been shown.
